Tempels
’wat’ means temple: the 3 most important are:
- Wat Phra Kaew + Wat Pho: very touristy, but it’s like going to Paris and not seeing the Eifel Tower.
- Wat Arun – for me this is the most beautiful temple
- visiting temples, you should do in the morning, they are open until 3 PM I think. Never believe someone who tells you that the temple is closed. Tickets are bought at the entrance, so don’t buy from someone in front of temple.
Floating market
- most famous one: damnoen saduak, also most touristic one, go in the morning, open everyday. Take a grab/taxi to there or a mini bus but not sure where the mini bus goes (90 km). If you go there, also go to the Mae khlong railway market. It is famous for the train passing through the market.
- Bang Krachao: Urban jungle and floating market Bang Nam Phueng (market only in the weekend), more info
- Floating market Amphawa – only open Friday and weekend
District Thonburi
Ik ben in Thonburi opgegroeid, een minder gekend stuk van Bangkok, tegenwoordig is het wel toeristischer geworden, maar ik vind het echt de moeite om te bezoeken. Meer over Thonburi.
